While this looks like a worthless pipe and cast iron part it’s actually a very rare windmill casting. Easily worth an average monthly house payment.
Someday it’ll look like a windmill when I’m done with it.

Here’s a crappy pano picture I took in Monument Valley a couple of years ago with a junk point and shoot camera.
I’d like to go back and get some better pictures now that I have a better camera.
When was the last time you were stuck in an ice storm in west Texas?
When was the last time you made an alcohol burner out of boredom?
When was the last time you made Jiffy-Pop popcorn?
When was the last time you made Jiffy-Pop popcorn over a homemade alcohol burner in west Texas in the middle of an ice storm?
I am definitely building a smaller version of this at the cabin in west Texas. Of course a windmill will be standing right next to it.
Just found this in my drafts folder. There was a meme a long time ago about a prized possession.
This is a hand drawing that a family member gave to me about 10 Christmases ago. She drew it from two different black and white pictures of my Grandfather that were taken when he was a young man, before he married my Grandma.
I’ll never forget his smile, or his laugh. He seemed so much larger than life and to a little boy he was so very tough and gruff, yet he was never mean.
Thinking about, I never heard him or my Dad cuss, they ‘son of a gunned’ or ‘dang it’, but never cussed. I didn’t carry on that damn tradition.
"Grateful - What are you Grateful for?" is a simple iPhone app. No sync. Few settings.
Every day at 9pm it asks you the same thing: “What are you Grateful for?”
You have until midnight to answer.
One answer per day.
You can go back and look at previous answers, but you can’t change them, and you can’t enter new ones for days which have already gone by.
Of course you don’t need an app to do this. But it’s a handy reminder, so I’m using it.
I’ve neglected my favoritepart posts for too long, and want to get back in the habit, so I’m going to try this, as I see them as two ways of asking the same question.
I checked to make sure that the WAYGF tag didn’t already have a meaning or meme, and it doesn’t, so I’ll probably tag them with that too. If you’d like to do that too, feel free. If not, that’s OK too. Mostly this is just here as a pointer for people who come along later and wonder what these posts are about. Ideally I won’t keep explaining it over and over again, as that would obviously be tedious.
I caught part of a PBS special the other day that explained that simply noting 3 unique things everyday that make you happy will ultimately make you happier. Do it everyday for two weeks and you are supposed to not only be happier but live longer, etc. I was thinking about that again this morning when this popped up on my dash.
I’m typically a positive person, but lately I’ve been a little crabby about life, gonnna try this for two weeks and see what happens.
